मुंबई में मोबाइल चोरी की समस्या से निजात दिलाने के लिए आज एक अहम पहल होने वाली है। दूरसंचार मंत्री रविशंकर प्रसाद आज मुंबई में एक वेबसाइट की शुरुआत करने वाले हैं। मोबाइल चोरी होने की स्थिति में आप आसानी से एफआईआर दर्ज करा सकते हैं। फिर उसके बाद 14422 पर दूरसंचार विभाग को संपर्क करना होगा। दर असल सरकार 2017 से ही Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) — a database of IMEIs (International Mobile Equipment Identity) पर काम कर रही है। करीब एक अरब से ज्यादा 15 डिजिट वाले आईएमईआई नंबर्स का डेटाबेस तैयार हो गया है।
